War!

War breaks out, as it does from time to time, amongst the many ancient races on the continent. A minor border dispute, some random banditry, and a few hurled insults quickly unleash the dogs of war. No one can say for sure who started it, but never the less, Long columns of infantry, cavalry, and batteries of guns are on the move from both East and West.

The march to war.

The Unionist forces have advanced rapidly , but are finding these elements isolated holding the area around Tenterfield.

The Associate forces are steadily marching West, intending to drive directly on the cities of Newton-Minister and Grissburg to its South.

The advanced guard elements of each army passed each other in the night and the commanders are now looking for an advantageous position. While the weather remains pleasant, Associate advanced guard forces dismantled the stone bridge East of the Village of Wuppertal (at 14A14), forming a strong blocking position to the growing Unionist Corps that is approaching.

Advanced Guard elements pass in the night.
Seeking to deliver a blow to the isolated enemy, Major General Oliverson's 4th Division attacks South with 5 Associate brigades (2-3-11-17, 1 reinforcing)  against Major General Melsbach's 2nd Division with 5 Unionist brigades (2-3-4-5-16) [at 17B2] north of Tenterfield in an area of fine grazing land broken by hedgerows.

Isolated forces around Tenterfield.

The first battle of the campaign.
