Battle of Tenterfield

The attacking Associate forces have won a victory north of Tenterfield, driving the outnumbered defending Unionists from the field by piercing their center. The Unionist forces have covered their withdraw with cavalry and are holding a council of war to decide if they must retreat further, or try to hold out in the town if a siege unfolds.

The Todoroni Hussars defeat the Guiniland Hussars to open the battle. The cavalry match up on this flank would turn against the initially victorious Toads.

Scandian Heavy Cavalry send the Todoroni lights back.

The Scandian brigade takes on the Ottermen and Toads in the center; casualties mount.

Algharvey cavalry threaten the Associate's flank forcing troops into square.

Catalucian Guard Lancers take a pounding from Todoroni artillery while screening the advance.

Scandian Jagers burn through ammunition trying to force the Janniseries to leave the village.

Hin cavalry win over the Colz Centaurs.

The fight in the woods between the Little Jagers and the Todoroni Alpine troops if fierce.

Hin warriors square up but face some dragoon fire.

Associate reinforcements arrive...the first of four battalions and a battery of guns.

The Unionists are holding out but pressure is mounting in the center.

It starts raining, and BG Navarro leads the Catalucian Curassier in a charge against the Todoroni Guard defending the hedgerow. Her troops destroy the Guards, taking their colors, but she falls severely wounded.
Her brigade chaplain takes over command.

BG Felipe leads the Algarvey Heavy Cavalry on a charge against the Calalucian cavalry.

A blood bath! The Algarvey heavy horse defeat two cavalry regiments and the Tuscani Light...losing 3 colors! (Catalucian Guard Lancers, Catalucian Lancers, and Tuscani Light).

The reinforcing brigade moves into the gap created by the destruction of the Todoroni Guards.

The Scandian brigade wins out in the woods but is low on ammunition.

Stalemate on the flank between the cavalry and the squares.

The weight of numbers takes its toll, the Todoroni Hussars and Coltz  Lancers have been defeated, their commander, BG Kistler wounded in action.

The strongpoint position is being squeezed.

No change of the flank.

MG Oliversen gives the order to withdraw.

The Scandians occupy the village.

The defeat in the center made the position untenable.

The Algarvey cavalry brigade rides to cover the retreat.

The Associates are content to hold the field and allow organized Unionist retreat...no one wanting to face BG Felipe's Algarvey cavalry brigade!

War!

War breaks out, as it does from time to time, amongst the many ancient races on the continent. A minor border dispute, some random banditry, and a few hurled insults quickly unleash the dogs of war. No one can say for sure who started it, but never the less, Long columns of infantry, cavalry, and batteries of guns are on the move from both East and West.

The march to war.

The Unionist forces have advanced rapidly , but are finding these elements isolated holding the area around Tenterfield.

The Associate forces are steadily marching West, intending to drive directly on the cities of Newton-Minister and Grissburg to its South.

The advanced guard elements of each army passed each other in the night and the commanders are now looking for an advantageous position. While the weather remains pleasant, Associate advanced guard forces dismantled the stone bridge East of the Village of Wuppertal (at 14A14), forming a strong blocking position to the growing Unionist Corps that is approaching.

Advanced Guard elements pass in the night.
Seeking to deliver a blow to the isolated enemy, Major General Oliverson's 4th Division attacks South with 5 Associate brigades (2-3-11-17, 1 reinforcing)  against Major General Melsbach's 2nd Division with 5 Unionist brigades (2-3-4-5-16) [at 17B2] north of Tenterfield in an area of fine grazing land broken by hedgerows.

Isolated forces around Tenterfield.

The first battle of the campaign.
